Two exciting milestones reached today! First, this blog reached 100 followers (thank you so
much everyone!), and I'm also happy to announce that Oil &Butter Store is now open!
So....today seems like an appropriate day to host a giveaway! The prize
will be these 3 Oil & Butter soaps:
All you have to do is post a comment below sharing your favorite
ingredient you like to use or have tried in soap. I’ll start - my favorite ingredient
at the moment is glacial clay, I love the silkiness and creaminess it adds to
the lather. Your turn! =)
Good luck, I will leave this open until Thursday!
Thursday, January 31: Okay, the winner was chosen using the online Random Winner Generator, scroll down to see the winner.....

Congratulations Carrie! Please email me at oilandbutter [at] gmail.com with your address details =) Thanks so much for participating everyone!
My favorite ingredient has to be the tusseh silk going into the
ReplyDeletehot lye water solution. It melts as I stir it in.
And I know how luxurious this makes CP soap.
You do have to strain your lye solution tho before adding to oils.
But it's well worth it.
Yes, silk is so lovely in soap!
DeleteI love using shea butter in my soaps!
ReplyDeleteI'm very partial to butters too Carrie, shea is one of my favorites also!
DeleteI'm new to soaping but I really love using goats milk in my soap.
ReplyDeleteGoats milk makes soap so creamy, definitely a nice ingredient!
DeleteCongratulations on your new store! :)
ReplyDeleteLard! I love using lard in my soaps.
Thanks Linda! I haven't tried making a lard soap yet, but I've used one and it was lovely...long lasting too!
DeleteIt's so hard to pick just one...but if I had to it would be cocoa butter. I love that stuff!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to pick just one, isn't it?! Love cocoa butter too!
DeleteKind of basic, but I love olive oil in soaps. I use a high amount in nearly every bar I make because I love how conditioning and creamy it makes the soap.
ReplyDeleteYour beach bar is absolutely gorgeous! love the cool colours so much. I've been wanting to try sea water for a while.
Thanks Deirdre, the Beach Bar is one of my favorites...you should jump in and try making a sea water soap! I love olive oil too, definitely use it more than any of my other ingredients!
DeleteCongradulations... what a great way to start off the year. Wish you the best for 2013 and onward. My favorite ingredient would have to be shea butter. But I do have to agree with Jen, tusseh silk is right up there on my list as well.
ReplyDeletexoxoxo,
Adina
Thank you Adina! Yes, shea butter and silk are both super nice in soap, can't go wrong with either!
DeleteCongrats on the new store! My favorite ingredient I would say would be Goats Milk!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roxana! Love goats milk too, it sure adds a nice quality to soap!
DeleteCongrats Cee! I hope that your store will be a success.
ReplyDeleteDo I really have to pick one ingredient??!! It´s too difficult. Can´t live without coconut milk, castor oil and sodium lactate. But if I´ll just pick one, the it would still be mango butter.
Thanks Marika! You know, sodium lactate would be at the top of my choices too..now that I've used it, I don't think I could go without it!
DeleteGood choice - I love the soaps I've made with mango butter, too!
DeleteMy favorite ingredient is 100% raw goats milk... amazing stuff! (followed rapidly by silk, lol)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear about your shop opening! My favorites are buttermilk and colloidal oatmeal!
ReplyDeleteI've tried lavender which provided a nice exfolient.
ReplyDeleteLove these ingredients too, thanks Sagehill, Barbara and Rachel!
DeleteI love soap made with Thermal Water. Near by the house of my parents is a pupblic source where you can take as much water as you need. It has a high content of sulfur wich should be very good for ever kind of skind disease.
ReplyDeleteI think the soap feels very soft because of this Water. I wasn´t sure if it will work with this water, but i got a soap that´s now 2 years old and it´s still ok.
That's one I've never heard of bbee! I wonder if that is like spring water? Cool idea!
DeleteI have really enjoyed playing around with pistachio butter - I bought a bunch when it was on sale at BB. My second would be mango butter (even though it's expensive) and third would be avocado oil. I have that in every one of my soaps!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Cee, your store looks great! I'm sure you will find it to be very successful!
Ohhhh, pistachio butter would be sooo nice, would love to try that! Love mango and avocado oil too...thanks for the nice compliment on the store Chrissy!
DeleteI am really happy for you, Cee! I hope this start will become a successful one, I wish you good luck!
ReplyDeleteDifficult to choose only one ingredient, I love goat milk, aloe butter, nettle powder, mud , but now my favourite soap is the rice powder soap, so I let me choose this one!
Thanks Natalia! Yes, your rice powder soap turned out sooo nice, it sounds like a lovely ingredient..great natural color too!
DeleteThanks for the generous giveaway! And my favorite soap ingredient is peppermint oil. There's something very invigorating and happy about it!
ReplyDeletetariqsaleemrana@yahoo.com
Congrats on getting your store open! My favorite ingredient in soap is definitely shea butter. Nearly every soap I make has some in it.
ReplyDeletei enjoy shea butter
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the grand opening of your store, Cee Gee! Your website looks great! It's difficult to pick just one favorite ingredient, but I do love honey in soap. And beer, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elena, Sarah, Realia and Jenny! Elena, I really like peppermint oil too, invigorating is a great word for it...I'm always worried I am going to use too much! I must try beer in soap Jenny!
DeleteCongrats on the 100 and the store opening! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't really have an all-time favorite. Shea butter and babassu oil, all kinds of milk... the list is just too long ;).
Not sure if you would ship this lovely giveaway to Germany but I thought I'd give it a try :).
I really want to try babassu oil, I've heard great things about it! Everyone is welcome to enter, I plan on shipping if the winner is outside Canada or US :)
DeleteI just found your blog and am so glad I did! I sat last nite and went thru your entire blog LOL! By far my favorite is shea butter....use it in every bar.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gloria
Thanks Gloria, I'm so glad you found us too...welcome! =)
DeleteSuch beautiful store, congratulations! I have so many ingredients that I love but I will definitely choose goat milk, honey and nettle.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new store =)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite ingredients are babassu and coconut oil.
What a lovely gift someone will enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThere are few ingredients I still need to try in soap, which might become my new faves, but until then,I'm choosing the combo of goats milk-cream-yogurt!
Good luck with your store,dear!
This is so difficult...but I'll pick cocoa butter (unrefined). I love the hardness it adds to the soap and I also love the smell..mmm! Great store Cee...I like the style and it's easy to navigate! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the followers! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice wishes everyone, I really appreciate it! I'm loving all of these ingredients...so many great ones for sure!
ReplyDeleteWow, congratulations on reaching such an impressive milestone. And of course on your store opening.
ReplyDeleteI only do MP soaps, but I sure do like the goat's milk soap base.
Thanks Monica! I do love goat's milk soap base too...it's definitely the one I use the most =)
DeleteI used a Bay Leaf infusion, in Olive oil. It was a pure Olive Oil Soap. It took a long time to set, but LOVE the soap.
ReplyDeleteA Bay Leaf infusion sounds so nice, I bet that was a fantastic castile soap once it cured!
