Blog Tip - Favicon

I really like using Blogger, it’s very user-friendly, but there is so much of it that I am still learning and finding out as I go.

One thing I discovered recently was that I could change the favicon image. I had no idea what a favicon even was, but if you look up to your tabs that are open at the top of this page (I don’t think it works on Safari), do you see the little picture of my soap beside the ‘Oil & Butter’ name on the tab that is open? This is the favicon, which is short for ‘favorite icon’. This image will also show up in your browser favorites, bookmarks and blog lists:

If you are using Blogger, the favicon usually shows up as the default logo ‘B’ for Blogger, but you can easily change the favicon to one of your own images. The favicon is found on your Layout page, on my Layout page it is in the top left corner. Just click where it says ‘Edit’ and you can easily browse your computer to add your own personalized photo, this will now be the icon for your blog page.

I hope I'm not sharing with you something that you already know...lol! Like I said, there are still so many of the design elements that I don’t properly use, a lot of this I’m learning as I go. One thing I would love to know, is if there is a function that notifies you when someone responds to your comment on another blog. Blogger will notify me if someone posts a comment or response to my comment on my own blog, but it doesn't notify me when someone responds to my comment on their blog. I always have to remember where I commented, and then go searching to see if they responded! I'd love to know if there is a way to set up automatic notifications for that. UPDATE: Kalla from SoDak Soaper, discovered that if you click on the 'subscribe by email' link that is below the comment box, you will receive notifications by email when someone adds a new comment to the blog post, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Thanks Kalla, this will make my blog-surfing so much easier :D

Any Blogger tips that you would like to share? I’d love to hear them!

  1. Ha-ha,that's exactly what I do! Searching thru blogs! And it happens to me,just like you,to forget where I wrote something. Eventually,it will come to me,but still have to roam. As I usually use my phone,I haven't searched notification options. Hope someone will know.
(maybe should try YT with 'how to' searching tag)

  2. Thanks for the favicon tip, Cee Gee! I have seen a "Notify me of follow-up comments" box that you can check on some blogs, but it seems like I see that mostly on Wordpress.

    1. Jenny, I've noticed that too on Wordpress...it's a nice feature! There must be something like that on Blogger, but I just haven't found it yet.

  3. Yay, thanks for the tip Cee! I'm like Jenny, sometimes I see a box you can check when you leave comments, but not always. I think it will work by a feed reader, like RSS or Atom, which have always been confusing to me. Right now as I am typing in this box, there is an option below (under the line that reads Home and then Older Post) that says "Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom)" I tried to click it and it wanted me to install something, soooo I didn't do it. I googled it, and this is what I got:
