First I made some starfish embeds, here is my Vine video of the making of the starfish embeds:
Have you tried Vine yet? It's a really fun app that just lets you take quick 6-second videos. I'm a bit camera-shy, but these I can handle!
It's hard to see in the video, but I actually dip a dry paintbrush into my glitter and then tap the glitter off over the embed. On these starfish I used purple glitter first, then crystal glitter. I also sprayed the embeds first with rubbing alcohol to help the glitter stick.
Here are the embeds up close:
Next, I made some soap with seaweed swirls and bentonite clay:
Then, I embedded my starfish into the soap:
And close up:
I was having trouble coming up with a name, so asked for help on my Facebook page - thank you so much for all the name ideas everyone, I went with the first one suggested...thank you Linda! :)
The starfish are so cute =) And it looks like they are on the beach, so the name is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marika, they were quick and easy to make! :)
DeleteI just came home after three days seaside vacation and this soap looks like you dived it out (correct my verb, please!) from the sea bottom. The stars are perfect and the base so resembles the sea bottom!
ReplyDeleteThank you Maja and welcome back, I hope you had a wonderful time!
DeleteSiempre nos haces jabones bonitos.

Thank you so much Paulina! :)
DeleteSo pretty! I love the sparkle of the starfish and how it pops from the swirly subtleness of the base. You make the nicest soaps. Hopefully this will ring in the arrival of summer for us.
ReplyDeleteAnd one of these days I'm going to learn to write proper English. :P
Thanks Monica....I'm soooo ready for summer, I guess this soap is a reflection of that! :p
DeleteBeach Baby is a perfect name for a fun summery soap! Thanks for the tips on how to make glittery embeds. I've seen a few Vine videos and it seems like a cool app. The starfish are so cute, and I like the seaweed swirls!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jenny, I really like the Vine app, I might try to use it a bit more!
DeleteWhat nice design and sparkles are so effective!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gordana!
DeleteI really like this, it's so pretty! Is the soap unscented? Does the seaweed smell come through? It does look "beachy", and the name is perfect! I like the short video too..never heard of Vine, but looks like a fun app.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kalla! Unfortunately, the seaweed smell doesn't come through (I used Nori). It is fragranced with a beachy-type fragrance though! :)
DeleteGreat job on your Vine Video, I love how it (and your soap) turned out! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne-Marie! :)
ReplyDeleteHow Cool! I really like the video and your soap as always are awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Roxana! =)
DeleteThose are adorable! And I love how you are using Vine.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dana, I've been having a lot of fun with the Vine app!
